NYSSMA & ABRSM

The New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) hosts an annual music festival, typically celebrated during the month of March as part of "Music in Our Schools Month." This event is a significant highlight for music education in New York State, bringing together students, educators, and communities to showcase and promote the importance of music in schools.

The ABRSM, or Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, is a registered charity and examination board based in the United Kingdom, providing music exams and qualifications across the globe. It was established in 1889 and has been offering graded exams and diploma qualifications in music within the UK's National Qualifications Framework. ABRSM exams cover a variety of musical instruments, singing, theory, and music knowledge, and are divided into eight levels of difficulty. These exams are held twice a year in officially certified institutions and are audited by the ABRSM commission. Additionally, ABRSM provides a publishing house for music, producing syllabus booklets, sheet music, and exam papers, and runs professional development courses and seminars for teachers
